Nutella Brownies with Nutella Ganache Frosting

We all know I love Nutella, as evidenced by my making of Nutella Hot Chocolate in May. I attended a BBQ recently and wanted to bring something that was easy to serve, and not too time consuming to make.

I ended up deciding to make Nutella Brownies, using a boxed mix (shame!) and then topping them with a little Nutella Ganache Frosting. The end result was a fantastic brownie that was not too sweet, and not too overpowering. I could have eaten the entire pan myself!

Nutella Brownies with Nutella Ganache Frosting

Brownies:
  • 1 boxed brownie mix of your choice
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup Nutella

Ganache Frosting:
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate

Heat the oven to 350*F.  Generously coat a 9-inch square pan cooking spray.

Combine the brownie mix, eggs, oil, water, and Nutella and stir until fully incorporated. Transfer to the prepared pan and use a spatula to even it out.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until inserted toothpick comes out nearly clean. Cool for 5-10 minutes while you make the ganache frosting.

In a heat proof bowl, combine the Nutella and semi-sweet chocolate. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until at a low boil. Turn off heat and pour over the Nutella and chocolate. Let sit 4-5 minutes, or until the chocolate is melted. Working carefully, mix the cream/Nutella/chocolate mixture until smooth.

Pour over brownies (still in the pan) and even out with a spatula. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the ganache is fully set.
